SFGate -- CBS shines amid the scramble for news, video, answers

I will add that CBC Newsworld was doing a good job from the Canadian perspective, MSNBC often was on top of its game and Fox seemed outclassed. The Dallas-based Texas Cable News had faster East Texas news than others and a very good analyst while Houston Cable 24-hour news showed its lack of budget.

Among local stations none stood out except for ABC 13 with the general who was a former astronaut. Local anchors were not particularly good. From what I saw the Fox local station relied 90% on Fox cable news as did the WB station. UPN did not show news. Several Spanish language stations went to all news
