Pasadena Citizen reports that Pasadena had a 90% pass rate for the new TAKS test.
Statewide, 89 percent of the 262,595 students who took the English version of the test passed while 82 percent of 24,536 students passed the Spanish version. Had the 2005 standards been in place, those numbers would drop to 81 percent and 67 percent, respectively.
The test is still too easy and it still orients the schools to drill, drill and drill again to make sure the least motivated and least prepared students pass.
