Ties are sex discrimination?

A public servant in Britain who was made to wear a collar and tie to work has won a sex discrimination case.

Manchester civil servant Matthew Thompson claimed it was unfair he was made to wear a tie and collar at his work in Jobcentre Plus, when his female colleagues were allowed to wear t-shirts and even football shirts without disciplinary action.

The British tribunal today upheld his claim of sexual discrimination.

Mr Thompson said he was delighted and relieved with the ruling and said he was now looking forward to getting on with his job.
