Freeters? (or Freeta) Young people who live at home well into their thirties and refuse to work in demanding career path jobs at corporations, but instead prefer low-pay positions as clerks in convenience stores and the like.

Approximately three percent of Japan's population are low-income non-career path young people who were not employed by major corporations after high school or college. This is a more significant problem than Hikikomori whose number may be greatly exaggerated. There is now a range given of between 50,000 and the too high one million for the withdrawn seclusive hikikomori.
