Eats

Pat and I went to Cuisine of India in Houston Clear Lake for their lunch buffet which was excellent except for their tandoori chicken (dry). My major criteria on restaurants is good with spices and Cuisine of India is great. Not too expensive on a great buffet - $7.95. Some better reviews, I love b4-u-eat.

bento boxWhile there I had the idea for an Asian or Indian restaurant that would only serve meals in bento boxes.

Convenient, colorful and cool.

Robb Walsh is back this week in the Press and tried Masa Sushi in Clear Lake. They have the bento boxes but like most places only serve a few pretty ordinary dishes in them. Robb notes the best things there are the new-style sashimi. While the food can be fancy and delicious the prices are high - although Robb argues not compared to comparable restaurants elsewhere.

bento 2 Back to my idea - I would have everything available in bento boxes including Chef surprise dinners and all at a reasonable cost. That is probably better than my other idea for a Houston restaurant - a European Prix-fixe restaurant that advertises "We have the worse service in Houston - You've got a problem with that?" We would smart off at our guests and serve them what we wanted to. I think we would also throw the rolls at the customers like the Potatoe Patch. What are they going to do - we told them we had lousy service? The food would have to be very good.
