A private group is preparing for a Mars colonization project. One catch - it is a one-way ticket and buyers are counting on them to be able to keep them alive. They would drop habitable shelters on Mars and start dropping off six people at a time. It only works financially if these are one-way tickets. More here on MSNBC, with on-line vote. Some perspective - the Mayflower trip cost each Plymouth colonist roughly 2 to 10 years salary and half died in the first winter.
