Did human overpopulation not cause the fall of Easter Island?
Science works by questioning everything that has gone before. Easter Island has recently been used as a metaphor for Island Earth and the dangers of unrestrained development. A new article suggests that humans may not have chopped down the trees of Easter Island and the collapse of civilization is more linked to European slavers than overdevelopment and wars.
