Amazon's Best Books of 2006: Science Fiction & Fantasy is disappointing this year with an emphasis on fantasy and short story collections. Only one pure science fiction by Chrarles Stross and why the odd numbering system - starting at 0? The Tim Powers is another of his secret history techno thriller mysteries.

The Amazon buyers aren't much better with only one SF/Fantasy/Horror best seller first published this year looking decent - Old Man's War, which I read from the library and recommend.

Amazon's top 50 in fiction for 2006 has many interesting choices, some appear to be more interesting than good and enjoyable reads. Is our literary fin de siecle occuring late?
