Going Cave Man
J has told me she has gone on the Paleolithic or Neanderthin diet. This diet has some good ideas if you don't get carried away with it. No grains, potatoes, sugars, coffee; nothing you couldn't eat raw. Grains and potatoes are bad for you raw. I am unconvinced about the diets avoidance of beans. It is also too easy on the diet to get unhealthy meats - modern farm animals eat the grains they are advocating avoiding and are at least four times more fatty than wild animals. I would add eat grilled fish two or three times a week.
I support the premise of the diet, a high protein, moderate carbohydrate diet but not some implementations and some unsupported statements.
Neanderthin.
INTRODUCTION TO THE PALEOLITHIC DIET
I have previously recommended the Mediterranean diet and the Carbohydrate Addicts diet, and related and here and the Okinawa Plan which you should consider. They would be called neolithic diets little better than modern diets by the paleolithic fans.
There are some common elements to all of these diets mentioned here - greatly reduce or eliminate sugars and white starches and eat more vegetables and lean meat and fish.
