For some reason Waldrop's tale of The Ugly Chickens is one of my favorite stories. That was from a large collection of SF classics that were placed on the net between 2000 and 2005 by SFI-FI Network.

I wish that the William Tenn satire The Liberation of Earth was online for you to read. That is the story of the Earth being repeatedly liberated in a galactic war by the two sides and is a cautionary tale about what happens to the people in a country like Iraq or Vietnam or Korea.... This has a political context today.
