Springtime Bacon Spirals

4 tsp. Olive Oil
4 oz. bacon or Canadian bacon chopped or julienned
One onion - chopped
One bell pepper - chopped
3 cloves garlic - chopped
1/4 cup red wine
1/8 tsp black pepper
fresh or dried herbs - chives, basil, thyme, majoram
Italian seasoning
24 to 28 oz. can whole tomatoes or marina or spaghetti sauce
14 to 16 oz can diced tomatoes or tomatoes and chili peppers
1/2 or 1 cup mushrooms - optional
One pound package frozen or fresh broccoli or broccoli mixture.

One package whole wheat spirals (or less as desired)
One cup shredded low-fat mozzarella cheese

Prepare whole wheat package pasta spirals according to package directions - 4 quarts boiling water - 8 to 10 minutes after water boils.

While waiting for this add oil to another pan and saute onions, garlic, bacon and chopped bell pepper. Add wine and tomatoes. Add herbs and seasoning and other vegetables. Drain water from pasta, add vegetable sauce to pasta, add cheese and toss.
