New Pasadena Mexican Restaurant

Blanca De Paolo, owner of Blanca's Mexican Restaurant, said everything is coming together only a month after opening.

De Paolo not only took her calling from her family but she has drawn from family recipes for the unique taste of Mexico City, where she was raised.

Keeping with her strong sense of the family, De Paolo has made the restaurant alcohol and smoke free, so that all families will be comfortable there.

"We make all of the tortillas by hand and prepare them fresh each day," De Paolo said.

The restaurant is open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday, and has meals ranging from breakfast to dinner including authentic Mexican specialities and Tex-Mex classics.

Breakfast includes tacos served with classic Mexican breakfast items, such as barbacoa, chorizo or tinga. Plates, such as omelettes or combinations of eggs, with various sides such as refried beans, Mexican hashbrowns, bacon sausage or pancakes depending on the order are also on the breakfast menu.

Lunch and dinner offers a variety of dishes from traditional, handmade hot tamales served with rice and beans to Mexican meatballs served with Spanish cole slaw on a bed of pasta and black beans.

De Paolo said she will be adding more dishes in the coming months as the business grows, so that customers can continue to experience new dishes as they visit.

The restaurant is located at the corner of Pasadena Boulevard and Beltway 8. To contact the restaurant, call (713) 473-5100.
